Inspector Gina Gold
Played by Roberta Taylor
Gina Gold did not suffer fools gladly. She was a South Londoner and married only to the job. She was ballsy, funny and had the capacity to terrify every rank of officer when the mood took her.
Having had a foot in both camps, uniform and CID, Gina was a natural bridge between the two. She refused to bow to all that pc nonsense much loved by the 'stiffs upstairs'.
Gina ruled the relief with an iron rod and her manner would often be seen as brusque and sarcastic.
Being tough and married to the job changed: Her nerves became shot to bits following the death of an officer and whenever other officers risked their lives in the line of duty, the anxiety become too much.
In 2008 Gold decided she wanted a divorce.
