Out on patrol PC Nate Roberts and PC Benjamin Gayle’s vehicle is hit by a bullet. Smashing through the rear windscreen and grazing Nate’s neck before blasting through the front windscreen, the bullet narrowly avoids serious injury.
Once the area is sealed off, PC Kirsty Knight takes a statement from local resident Keith Shipley who witnessed a car speeding off just after the shots were fired. Back at the station Commander Lisa Kennedy is called in again to oversee the enquiry. However she does notice Smithy allowing Nate and Ben to continue working, although they’re both shaken from the ordeal.
Malcolm Christie is suspected of being the gunman; although his ex girlfriend’s insistence he doesn’t have the gumption. In a showdown, Christie runs from Smithy but is soon tazered down by CO19 and arrested.
Straight afterward this, the team make it clear they’re feeling let down by Sun Hill’s senior officers following Sergeant Stone’s suspension. Ben backs up PC Roger Valentine who argues with Smithy. Now there’s massive morale problem with the team.
