Two weeks ago Gavin was charged with assaulting his daughter Chelsea. He was granted bail on the condition he didn’t come within a quarter of a mile of his little girl or Lily, her mum who is his loving and loyal partner; surprisingly.
Suspicion for attacking 18-month-old Chelsea is on Gavin once again after emergency services find her unconscious with a severe head trauma. Chelsea is rushed in to have brain surgery.
Lily repeatedly insists Chelsea fell from her highchair whilst she was in the kitchen preparing some food. However a preliminary report from the crime scene suggests Lily’s lounge has been staged, with the highchair upturned and blood placed on the coffee table to fit with her version of events. Blood is detected from elsewhere in the room that has been cleaned up.
Armed with an alibi for the time Chelsea was assaulted, Gavin insists he is innocent and the police are jumping to conclusions. Whilst Smithy suggests the mum could have done it, coupled with the fact that there’s no evidence to place Gavin at the scene of crime, DI Manson agrees it’s a possibility.
